         THE ACORN

 DECEMBER, 2017

MANAGERS REPORT:

Homeowners & Renters, the Association asks that you please secure your property & belongings better.  For example, lock your doors on your houses, vehicles and sheds.  Keep your windows closed if you aren't present on the property.  Just need to make sure we are doing whatever we can to help ourselves in preventing any future problems.

Reminder Voting time is coming.   Please we need everyone to vote.  We need to make some updates on the Declaration.     Ron Zobel----Park Manager

FROM THE FRONT OFFICE:

A Reminder to all OWNERS to let the office know when you are back in the Park and when you leave for the season.  This helps with our mail outs going to the correct address and your receiving it on time.   If you are a RENTER, you MUST register at the office upon arrival.  Even if you are a returning renter you will need to fill out the registration form and present your driver’s license each year.          Thank You, -----   Kathy

CHRISTMAS EVE LUMINARIES:

Please remember to place your CLEAN one-gallon jugs in the wooden crate at the rear of the compactor.  Looking forward to another beautiful Christmas Eve.  Thank you, ---Wendy Powell.

CHRISTMAS CAROLING:

Christmas Caroling through the park will be on Wednesday Dec. 21th @ 6:00p.m.  Meet at the Clubhouse by 5:45pm.  There will be finger foods in the Clubhouse after the caroling, so please bring something for everyone to share.

GOLF CART CHRISTMAS EVE PARADE:

Again, this year, we will have our Golf cart Christmas Eve parade.  We invite you to decorate your golf cart, your bicycles and to get dressed up if you wish to for this special occasion for a fun time! Gather your friends, your neighbors, your family and let’s all celebrate around our wonderful park.  So, just after we light the luminaries around 5:30 p.m. on December 24th, we will all meet in the storage area to get in line and ready for the parade that should leave around 6:00 p.m.  This year my goal is to involve as many residents as possible to break a record of participants, so talk about it so we have a celebration that we will all remember. I also invite you to decorate your houses to make it as joyful as possible during the Holidays.  This past year has been a difficult one for many of us, so now that we are back in our paradise, let’s enjoy ourselves and celebrate all together.  Watch the bulletin boards for more details. If you have any questions get in touch with Ginette Charlebois, 5243 SE 67th Avenue or on messenger or Facebook.

As we did the past few years Ginette will draw names to plan our foursomes that will be on the bulletin board in the Clubhouse by Saturday morning, so you need to let me know before Friday afternoon if you don’t play. As soon as I get in A.O. I will invite you to sign-up the sheet in the Clubhouse by December 15th and a meeting will be held before Christmas, I will let you know on the date and time later.

Please invite your friends to join in and as we usually do, after our golf game we meet in a restaurant in town. All suggestions are welcome.  For more information:  Contact Ginette Charlebois 5243 SE 67th Avenue or by messenger or Facebook

A CHRISTMAS GIFT:

A huge thank you goes out to our maintenance crew and office staff that has gone above and beyond the call of any job duties to prepare our park for the arrival of hurricane Erma and her aftermath.  As you ride around our park, you must look closely to notice any damage, because there is not a scrap of debris anywhere.   Our grounds are in pristine condition.

Are you aware that there is a Christmas donation jar in the office? Prior to Christmas the money is divided among the workers.  If you wish to donate and are not in the park prior to the holidays you may mail a check to the following:  Ancient Oaks, 6407 SE Hwy 441, Okeechobee FL 34974.  Make checks payable to Ancient Oaks and be sure that you make a note on the check that it is a Christmas donation. Checks should be in the mail by December 15th.  Wishing everyone a very happy holiday season.  ------------Dennis and Jackie Bailey

Starting on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 through Thursday, April 26, 2018, we will meet on Tuesdays from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.  and Thursdays from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.  Please join us for some boot stomping, heart pumping, calorie burning, bone strengthening fun!  No experience?  No problem.  All skill levels are welcome.  If you have any questions, please call Wendy Powell, instructor, at (863) 226-2434.

BLOODMOBILE:

The 12th annual Okeechobee Blood Roundup will be Nov. 18th and 19th at the Freshman Campus Auditorium, behind Golden Corral.  All blood donors will receive a T-shirt, a hot dog lunch, and entry into drawings for over 200 prizes.  This year, instead of a large goody bag, we will be giving a discount packet which will contain a variety of coupons, free offers. etc.  The bloodmobile will be in our clubhouse parking lot sometime in January.  Only 38% of the U. S. population is eligible to donate blood and only 10% do annually.  Sad, isn't it!  If you have a problem, with your iron being too low, try stop taking calcium for a week.  Also, you will feel a lot better if you eat a meal (or snack) and drink water before you donate.  Remember, every unit of donated blood has the potential of saving 3 lives.  The rarest blood type is the one not on the shelf when it's needed by a patient.
